TONGARIRO NATIONAL PARK
Tongariro is a stunning National Park in the centre of the North Island. Tongariro was New Zealands first National Park and has been acknowledged by UNESIO as a cultural and national world heritage site. There is a number of Maori sites within the park that are deemed sacred by the Maori Culture. Tongariro National Park is the home of the famed Tongariro Alpine Crossing, which is regarded as one of the worlds best one day hikes.
